- Process Controls Engineer
Our client a leading electric smart energy provider are currently looking for a process controls engineer to join their team of engineers. You will be working with minimum supervision providing engineering and technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of routine problems in the engineering systems.
- Assisting in the accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activities
- Preparing thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketches associated with the resolution of routine technical problems.
- Conducts engineering studies requiring evaluation and ingenuity.
- Possesses knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices and procedures.
- Develops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities. Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills. Maintains accurate records and files.
- Supports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionally.
Required Qualifications:
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET accredited program. A Master's degree in engineering will be considered in lieu of the B. S. engineering degree.
Skills and Abilities:
- Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles.
- Understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations.
- Ability to deal with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years experience working in process control / instrumentation and controls job duties, including local process measurement methods (transmitters, pressure switches, temperature switches, transducers, etc.) and process control loop tuning, troubleshooting, and development (PLC’s, PID loop controllers, integrated DCS systems)
- Experience with Bailey INFI-90 and/or Bailey S+ a plus.
- Ability to read and understand PLC, DCS, and other control logic diagrams.
- Experience troubleshooting controls-based problems from field instrumentation to the PLC and/or integrated DCS system including DCS computer and network hardware.
- Ability to work with limited technical supervision.
- Understanding of basic principles of project management.
- 3+ years industry experience in a chemical plant, power plant, water or water-treatment plant, manufacturing plant, or other heavy industrial-type plant.
- Experience working with a diverse workforce with skill-levels ranging from hands-on technicians to experienced senior-level engineers.
- Electrical Engineer Degree with a Process Controls Specialization or Computer Engineering Degree with a Process Controls Specialization
- Ability to work in a hot, humid environment
- Ability to climb ladders and stairways
- Ability to work extended hours, after-hours, holidays and weekends to meet station business needs.
